Some like it long, but short is definitely in. Short wedding dresses are fast becoming a fab trend, thanks in large measure to evolving consumer tastes and designers who have cashed in on the trend.

There is nothing more refreshing to the eye than seeing a modern bride gliding down the aisle in a short and sexy yet appropriate wedding gown. It is amazing how many fashion-forward women can pull off the look with ease.

Short wedding dresses are actually among the forecasted hot trends for 2009, which has had topnotch fashion designers like Oscar de la Renta and Dolce & Gabbana unveiling super fabulous bridal wear well suited for both the young & spirited and mature.

At the recent Milan Fashion Week, a multitude of entrancing options were presented by some of the big names in the fashion industry. A wide selection of long and short white wedding dresses that are bound to create dramatic impact and leave grooms and guests gasping were presented.

Most of the dresses were light, romantic and white, as traditional wedding dresses should be, but with a creative twist. Among those modeled was a very short dress with shoulder straps with exquisite embroidered beads that will certainly look stylish and beautiful on a young and pretty, svelte bride. The other short wedding dress styles looked avant-garde.

Many designers can create gorgeous retro looks, too. The thing about short wedding dresses is that they show off some leg, so it requires investing on equally fabulous footwear.

Most brides take delight in wearing eye-catching heels that exude flair. For casual outdoor weddings, though, a pair of chic beaded thongs or even stylish flip flops or sandals, accessorized by an anklet or toe ring for extra sparkle, should do the trick.
